"
20 years ago I went to Eastern Africa in order to broaden
our coffee range (by then exclusively coming from Central
America). After some research we decided to go with Bugisu
Cooperative Union buying their PB grade.
Some 10 years ago we got a proposal from TWIN Trading to join
their program in Uganda and to go with the Gumutindo group
which they were building up by then. We were happy with that
proposal since it was a smaller group and our impact was better.
TWIN did a great job in improving the quality of the coffee
from there. |

Few years later
EZA managed to get funding for the organic transition programm
of Gumutindo. The results are very satisfying: Sales improved
a lot due to high quality and organic certification, since
this is our market here in Austria.
This year we ordered three containers of their organic coffee.
Contact with Gumutindo is very close since some Austrians
also went there for a visit and came back with very good impressions.
Gumutindo is one of the few organisations where we manage
to stay constantly in touch with.
I am very happy with this relationship and would highly appreciate
to continue for an undetermined time." |

“I
find that coffee from Gumutindo will add a unique flavour
and character to almost any other coffee. I use it as a base
for many of my blends. The quality is now so consistently
excellent that in 2010 Gepa has launched a new single origin
organic product which is pure Gumutindo coffee.” |

"Gumutindo
have been a valued and important partner of Cafedirect for
many years.
Their needs are at the heart of the mission of Cafedirect
and we look forward to a continuing strong relationship over
many years to come.
I remember in my early days at Cafedirect listening to a talk
from Willington Wamayeye describing the positive impact of
Fairtrade and particularly the added value of the Cafedirect
model". |

‘We’re
delighted to be buying coffee from Gumutindo. This is an organisation
which fully understands the importance of maintaining the
highest quality coffee possible, through a rigorous and effective
quality program.
During a recent visit to Mount Elgon I was also deeply impressed
by the initiatives that Gumutindo has taken to support a better
quality of life for its farmer members.
This is a very inspirational organisation and one which deserves
the support of anyone who wants to buy excellent coffee from
a great co-operative”. |
