G.C.C.E ANNUAL GENERAL MEETING HELD ON 7TH JUNE 2011

The problems caused by climate change were a major talking point at this year’s AGM, held at the beginning of June and attended by 99 delegates from our 11 primary societies. One experience that the chairman Mr Wambette shared with the delegates was the ferocious attack of the leaf rust disease on our coffee in 2010, the result of increased temperatures encouraging the fast multiplication of organisms carrying diseases. He also talked about some of the mitigation measures we are taking, such as the climate change adaptation tree-planting project.

Through music and drama the Quality group of handsorters and loaders encouraged the delegates to push on the good practices learnt and information shared at the AGM to the farmers back home in their respective societies. This year we filmed the event and will be taking it to the primary societies on Mt Elgon so that all of our members can see what their representatives discussed.
Quality Drama Group entertaining.
